But First, Coffee... Coffee Table PBL Project

This project consists of key fabrication skills and techniques that prepare a foundation and are transferable for any fabricator or fabrication job. Students learn fundamentals about shop and equipment safety, beginner level blueprint and welding symbol reading, fit-up techniques for alignment of parts to be constructed, and more. Students will need to overcome the problems of how to minimize distortion from welding and how to align legs correctly to name just a few. Students will learn how to fabricate and weld a project that is practical… a coffee table as elegant or basic as students want, to reflect their own creativity and challenge pre-existing skills. The dimensions in this project and the material selected offer a cost effective approach at ordering training material and also the end result of the table will be relatively light, so students are more ergonomic and safe. This project is brought to you by Joseph Harding with support from the CTE Online curriculum leadership team and detailed coordination provided by Team Lead Mina Greas.
