One Energy to Rule Them All? STEM Integrated Project

One Energy to Rule them All? Students will investigate and explore conventional energy sources. In response to a specific energy challenge, students will work in teams to deliver a presentation on the “best” application of energy sources. Students who participate in this project will acquire and accurately use Engineering sector terminology and protocols; and communicate effectively in oral, written and multimedia communication. In their Career Technical Education class, students will synthesize information and conduct independent research about an energy technology of their choice. In their mathematics class, students will summarize, represent, and interpret data on two categorical and quantitative variables. Finally, students will develop models that illustrate the changes of energy states in their science classes. Provide a list of relevant careers: Mathematician Data Analyst Environmental Scientist Technologist Engineer Construction Management Utility Technician Laboratory Scientist or Researcher Technical Writer In addition to the CTE/STEM focus of the unit/project lessons, educators will find academic lessons in mathematics and science that supplement the primary core area of study. This unit is brought to you by Eugene Mahmoud (CTE), Daniel Harris (Science), and Michael Watter (Mathematics) with support from the CTE Online curriculum leadership team and detailed coordination provided by the Course Team Lead Mina Greas.
