Communication Skills PBL Project

"I have no idea what you are talking about!" "Whatever." "You're an idiot." "Never mind." These are all poor forms of communication. Chances are you've used them and/or you've heard them. Good communication can benefit all of us in all areas of our lives. The following lessons are designed to help students better communicate at home, school and work. Students will use communication skills they learn by writing and acting in role plays for the final project. Lesson One: In this lesson, the student will identify different feelings. For example: anger, fear, sadness, pride etc. The student will also be able to communicate their feelings using an "I" message. Lesson Two: In this lesson, the students will learn about the importance of matching their body language, facial expressions and voice inflection with their words. Lesson Three: In this lesson, the students will assess their relationship style and learn about different styles of interaction. Lesson Four: As this is the final lesson, students will demonstrate what they've learned in previous lessons by writing and acting in role plays for their final project in this unit. This project and its lesson are brought to you by Laurie Theis with support from the CTE Online curriculum leadership team and Team Lead Trish Valceschini.
