Where Does My Food Come From? STEM Integrated Project

This is a 2-3 week unit in which students will explore where the food they eat on a regular basis comes from, is grown and processed. In the process, they will learn to read critically, check and read the labels of their food, write a short research paper and a business letter seeking a real world change or info. The Culminating assessments will be a documented research paper and a Business letter using information form the unit to propose changes in practice or seek additional information. In the agriscience class students will explore the production elements of the their food, while in the English class they will apply critical reading and writing skills. Relevant careers: Agriscience, Nutrition and English. In addition to the CTE/STEM focus of the unit/project lessons, educators will find academic lessons in English and Science that supplement the primary core area of study. This unit is brought to you by Sarah Warren (CTE), and Jarrett Black (ELA) with support from the CTE Online curriculum leadership team and detailed coordination provided by the Course Team Lead Jodi Halligan.
