Manufacturing- Fishing Lure PBL Project

This project will teach students how to design and fabricate a Ling cod fishing jig lure. Throughout the four lessons in this project, students will learn the design features that a Ling cod jig should have, create a materials list, equipment safety, fabrication, finishing processes and test their lures.Students will also do a cost analysis on lure production vs. retail purchasing. In the culminating lesson, students will perform a gallery walk to evaluate the lure action and final finishing of their piers lures. Manufacturing concepts taught are measurement, materials selection, steel shape/type identification, fabrication and finishing processes. This unit is brought to you by Matt Joiner (CTE) with support from the CTE Online curriculum leadership team and detailed coordination provided by Team Lead Gayle Nicholls-Ali.
