PSA: "Texting While..." - Digital Media Design 2 PBL Project

In this project students will have the opportunity to learn about the History and use of Public Service Announcements and create their own PSA based on the topic : "Texting While..." Student's final projects will be aired on local educational channel, on school website and in school display. This project's activities include sections on Composition, Storyboarding, Camera Shots, Compositing. Tools and equipment needed to complete this project: Digital Cameras DSLR, Tripod, Camera lights and light poles ( can use utility lights with daylight bulbs from home depot etc), Green Screen (green screen can be painted boards or wall, Behr paint Barnyard Grass is a good match to chroma color green, or Jazz Blue is close to chroma blue. Flat paint. If there are no camera lights Painted Panels allow set up outside,(and while a different color, second key will need to be applied ) Artificial grass rugs can be used for floor coverage. Software used: Photoshop, In-design and Aftereffects or similar products. Career Areas covered: 27-4011.00 - Audio and Video Equipment Technicians 27-1014.00 - Multimedia Artists and Animators 27-4032.00 - Film and Video Editors Approximately 15 Hours Setting the Stage : History of Public Service Announcements 60 Minutes Composition Rules of Thirds Activity 60 Minutes Green Screen and compositing lecture 60 Minutes Shooting for compositing and input 180 Minutes Camera Angles and shots lecture 20 Minutes Camera shots development 40 Minutes Story boarding - breaking down the shot 20 Minutes Brainstorming ideas 20 Minutes Rough Storyboard creation 20 Minutes Photo Storyboard and Critique 60 Minutes Creating an Animatic : Timing lecture 20 Minutes Actual Project start : PSA Animatic creation 6 Hours Presentation of rough Edits and critique 120 Minutes
