This collection includes objects and resources related to transportation in the 19th century. The locomotive train broke barriers on transportation in the early 1800s. Travel was suddenly much faster than it used to be - the trip from New York to Boston, which by carriage would have been a day and a half, with the train was now less than a day. This allowed for easier travel not only of people, but of supplies such as food and raw goods, which helped in turn spur industry in the 19th century.
